MTM Hand Him Over and Liza Boyd Claim Sixth in the USHJA International Hunter Derby Championship

Liza Boyd continued her Platinum Performance/USHJA International Hunter Derby victory gallop appearances, this year placing sixth aboard Rebekah Warren’s MTM Hand Him Over. Liza, a three-time winner of the Championship, moved up from 14th after the Classic Round with her trademark Handy Round ride, which featured incredible precision and brilliance.

The pair started out the Derby Championship, held August 19-20, at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, with scores of 86.5, 89 and 86.75 for 14th place in the Classic Round out of 69 starters. The elegant bay gelding impressed the judges with his athleticism and stylish jumping over a flowing but challenging course designed by Alan Lohman.

They returned on Saturday evening for the Handy Round, and, as usual, Liza took all of the high option fences and the tightest tracks and turns to move up the ranks. Their efforts were rewarded, with scores of 87.25, 86 and 89 with Handy Bonus scores of 8, 6 and 9, which placed them sixth in that round and moved them up to sixth overall in Section A.

As owner, Rebekah received a check for $11,433.43, which was 5.66 percent of the $252,505 purse for a very rewarding night for the Finally Farm team!
